непонятки с exec system и т.д.

всё шоколадно - все они, эти шесть штук спокойно выполняются, т.е. с exec system и т д всё хорошо.
Значит проблема в вызове centericq, а не в них
Поэтому пробуй вместо команды $cmd="ls -al" варианты строк вызова этой асечной команды
